Named after the first primate sent into space, Albert partners pulsing rhythms with melancholia; warbling synths with feelings of impending doom; and textural loops with flowing beats. It courses with themes of social disconnection, isolation and loneliness. Encapsulated and floating helplessly in front of a world that is so close, but impenetrable, just like poor Albert.

Gravel Pit Bio:
In an attempt to share a common love of 80s sci-fi, punk and electronica, musicians Rivals and Martino begun work under the Gravel Pit moniker in early 2015. Slow was the development of two self-produced and recorded EPs: 2015’s rusty machines and 2016’s Sports – the fruits of three years labour.

Continuing to develop relationships between acoustic drums, live electronics and a series of gadgets whose antiquity would seem better suited to a buy/swap forum, the pair concluded that the inclusion of vocals was the next logical step. Vocalist and instrumentalist Adam joined toward the end of 2016.

The increase of hands on deck permeated the group’s musical identity.
Offering stark melody to the mix of layered and looped textures, Adam’s vocal additions – like a frame to a portrait – brought composition to already ear-pricking songs. Wrangled, corralled and recorded in five audacious tracks is the three-pieces forthcoming release Albert.
